The month of October is nearly upon us and with it comes that fine festive feeling associated with Oktoberfest. The 16 day festival takes place annually in Munich, Germany, but over the decades the celebrations have become a world wide affair.
If you are thinking of getting in on the action this year, we at Deltas Dazzling Costumes and Party Supplies have all the ingredients necessary for:
Once they arrive an Oktoberfest banner hung above the door and blue and white pennant banners strung up on your fence and around the yard, will let them know where the party is and that you mean business.
What is a great party without great food? Whether you plan to serve up a feast of bratwurst, schnitzel and rouladen… or simply a couple of snack trays of pretzels and cheese spatzle… displaying them on a well decorated table will keep the theme running and entice your guests appetites. Blue and white checked tablecloth covers, some candles and a Beer Stein Centrepiece will do the trick. Choose from our range of colour plates, glasses, cups and cutlery for serving. Blue, white or the colours of the German flag will work well.
Now when you throw a party to be remembered, you will want something to look at to remind you of the good times. Oktoberfest Button Badges can be handed out to your guests to take home as a little memento, but if you really want to send them home with some great memories, then a photo booth corner is the way to go. Oktoberfest themed photoprops can be placed in a quiet corner, where guests can have fun popping their heads through and having their photo taken. A Polaroid camera would add a nice touch, allowing them to take their photo home with them that night.
Of course all of this fabulous effort would be a waste if you and your guests didn’t look the part. At Deltas there is a wide range of German Oktoberfest themed costumes and accessories available. We have something for men and ladies of all sizes – from XS to Plus Size. Beer Maidens; Bavarian Beer Guys; Lederhosen and pretty dresses; and even Oktoberfest drag for the boys who would rather be dressed as a frauline for the night. Accessorise with plush hats and plaited wigs, or simply dress as a giant beer mug.
So now you have the ingredients for the perfect Oktoberfest party recipe, the rest is up to you. Our advice – start shopping, mix well and then… just add beer!

As Halloween Night draws closer, the hunt will soon be on for the scariest costumes and decorations. At Deltas Dazzling Costumes we have scoured the creepiest, darkest corners of the earth to ensure that our shelves are fully stocked with something for everyone.
So in the true spirit of Halloween, we have found some ideas to get the blood flowing, and this year we are going old school.
Deltas Countdown of the Top 5 Scariest Movie Characters of Yesteryear:
5. Freddy Krueger:
Since his first appearance in 1984 in A Nightmare on Elm Street, Freddy has maintained his position as on of the top scary characters of all time. Wearing his signature black leather fedora hat; a brown and red striped sweater; and a clawed glove – Freddy is truly terrifying in his ability to pull his victims from even the most peaceful slumber straight into the depths of hell. One, two, Freddy’s coming for you…
4. Norman Bates:
While a guy dressing up as his mother may sound more silly than scary, this was not the case with Norman Bates in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 horror film, Psycho. When actor Anthony Perkins, who played the shy and obscure Norman, came out in his mother’s dress and a grey wig, his twisted psyche was revealed to astounded audiences. It was a ground breaking film by Hitchcock, and it blew the doors wide open for horror films and landed Norman Bates in our Top five.
In 1976 a very young Sissy Spasek teamed up with master of horror, Stephen King, for her role as Carrie – a social outcast pushed to her limits by her religious and abusive mother, and her hateful classmates. We soon learn that there is more to Carrie than meets the eye and when Carrie is pushed to anger or distress, there can be dire consequences. The climactic and terrifying scene with Carrie on stage in her white blood splattered prom dress will not soon be forgotten by those who saw it.
2. Hannibal Lecter:
A serial killer is a frightening concept on its own, but when you add the fact that the killer is charming, well spoken, well groomed, highly intelligent… oh, and he likes to eat his victims with a side of wine… well, the results speak for themselves. The cannibal, Hannibal Lecter, first brought to screen alongside Jodie Foster in 1988, has his place in the Halloween hall of fame securely fixed.
Now there are a number of scary characters that could earn themselves a place at number one. Characters that have given us the shivers, made us tread more carefully in the dark, and perhaps even look under the bed… just in case.
But our place in the number one spot is reserved for a character who has terrorised our screens since 1980.
1. Jason Voorhees
Hidden behind a hockey mask and carrying a machete, Jason's image has become an iconic symbol of the horror genre. What makes Jason scary is not his appetite for revenge, as portrayed in his first appearance in Friday the 13th. What makes him scary is that even after his revenge is enacted Jason's reign of terror continues, seeing him kill over 150 people over the next 11 movie sequels in the goriest fashion possible.
If you are looking to create some horror of your own this Halloween, these are some of the characters sure to scare your guests. There are also grim reapers, scary skeletons, evil clowns and many other options to choose from. Along with a wide range of costume accessories, weapons and creepy props so you can turn your house and yourself into a Halloween nightmare no one will ever forget.

Superhero parties have always been one of the most popular costume parties to attend and someone somewhere is probably having one right now. Crooked masked superhero goodies and baddies walking around with a drink in one hand and their undies on the outside. You dont need to ask who they are supposed to be cause pretty much all superheros are well known to most. You'll see your Batmans, Batgirls, your Flashes, Hulks and Wonder Womans, Spidermans and Green Lanterns but why not go as the latest, coolest superhero currently flying the skies.. the man of steel himself, the one and only Superman!
Keep your undies on the inside with the new man of steel deluxe muscle chest costume, we have it in store now brand new at Delta's. Follow the link to see the unveiling of this new costume in our warehouse.
Superman: Man of Steel is the latest superhero box office smash and if you haven't see it yet then you better get to the movies. Man of Steel is a film based on the origins of Superman. Directed by Zack Snyder, produced by Christopher Nolan, and starring Henry Cavill as Superman. Want to know a bit more about it?
Check out the official Superman: Man of Steel plot synopsis from Warner Bros below:
“In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone's imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world's last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.”
Man of Steel of course features the beautiful Lois Lane, played by Amy Adams and Michael Shannon as General Zod, along with an all star cast including Diane Lane, Russell Crowe and Lawrence Fishbourne. The new movie focuses on the legend that is Superman and how he became, with plenty of childhood flashbacks and questions on the origin of all character revealed.
